Competitions for second Metro and subway line in Porto in April and May

The BRT (Bus Rapid Transit] Império – Boavista connection, in Porto, will have a length of 3.70 kilometers and seven new stops, connecting to the current network at Boavista station, hitting at Casa da Música station, representing an investment 66 million euros.

The metrobus of the Western Zone of Porto, succeeds the solution initially thought for Campo Alegre, will make the upper part of Avenida da Boavista and Marechal Gomes da Costa, until Praça do Império, with no continuity planned for this stage. Matosinhos.

The metrobus project for Boavista is being contested by the Lordelo do Ouro Environmental Defense Center – Ecological Group (NDMALO-GE), which is concerned with environmental impacts and defends the maintenance of the Campo Alegre Line.

With six new stations and connection to the network at the Casa da Música and Santo Ovídio stations, the second metro line in Gaia, as it is known, has a length of 6.77 kilometers, representing an investment in the order of 298,700 million euros.

The new section will require the construction of a bridge over the Douro, whose ideas contest was launched on 16 March.

The new crossing that will be born about 500 meters to the east of Ponte da Arrábida, represents an investment in the order of 50 million euros and will connect Campo Alegre, in Porto, to Candal, in Gaia.

Representing a mandatory part of a new Metro line that will connect Casa da Música and Santo Ovídio, the new crossing, which interfaces with trains at the Devesas station in Gaia, will run between 2023 and 2026, simultaneously with the new line.
