Amarante (Porto)

Amarante is a beautiful city located on the banks of the River Tâmega and about 60 km from Porto. With a mix of history, religion, nature, art, and gastronomy, it is a destination worth visiting! Although the exact date and who were its founders are not known, there are traces that their origin comes from the primitive people who lived in the Serra da Aboboreira since the Stone Age. It is true that, as in many other places throughout Portugal, the Romans were here and populated.

Rural tourism

For those looking to combine with the city visit some rest, tranquility and nature activities in family or couple, Quinta da Pousadela is the right option!

This fantastic agritourism farm is located a few minutes from the center of Amarante and set in a rural and forested environment where silence and tranquility reign. It is, as they themselves announce, a “slow living” space, where you feel a very intimate and unpretentious environment.

The accommodation options are different, from rooms to one or two-bedroom houses with kitchenette. The pool, surrounded by grass and with open views, invites you to rest afternoons reading a book or simply a much-needed dolce far niente these days.

In terms of activities, there are walking trails within the farm itself, wine tasting and other experiences and tours that can be combined with the owners. Senhora Dona restaurant serves great homemade food, mainly based on a Maronese meat menu.
