Seixal Bay hosts Post-Industrial Cromlech exhibition
July 29th to September 15th
Post-Industrial Cromlech is the name of the exhibition that will be on show, from July 29th to September 15th, on the Amora and Arrentela waterfront, in Seixal Bay. This show presents two sculptural installations developed by the artist Ticiano Rottenstein, inspired by the megalithic monuments erected by our ancestors, in which Ticiano Rottenstein presents a contemporary rereading full of new symbolisms and interpretations.
The inauguration takes place on the 29th of July, at 6.30 pm, on Avenida Silva Gomes (marginal de Amora).
Once mystical places for the worship of deities and nature, the cromlechs proposed by the artist venerate consumption and capital. While the ancient monuments were built with stones extracted from nature, Titian’s works are built with wood from the waste of the troubled post-industrial era. What legacy do we intend to leave to future generations? This is the central question that emanates from this work, proposing a reflection on our current destructive lifestyle and pointing out new sustainable paths toward a change in the collective consciousness.
Joaquim Tavares, Deputy Mayor of Seixal, says that «far from being a novelty in our municipality, street art is something that is already part of the experience of our people, serving to express a very unique way of life. and striking feature of the population of Seixal».
The sculptures will be installed on Avenida Silva Gomes (Amora), which will have five sculptures built from waste wood collected in the municipality of Seixal, and on Avenida da República (Arrentela) with the installation of a sculpture built from blocks of cork found in the old Mundet factory.
