On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June, Passeio das Dunas, in Quarteira, hosts another edition of Petiscos do Pescador, an event to celebrate the fishing community, which combines music with the best flavors of the sea, including the traditional washing.
The fishing families of this town are the “chefs” of the festival, responsible once again for making the snacks that can be enjoyed here, with fish and shellfish as the main ingredients, with traditional recipes that delight visitors.
Tradition is also fulfilled with the moment of washing or the art of dragging ashore, one of the most important points of this event that is part of the Fisherman’s Day celebrations. It’s on the 3rd, at 6 pm, on the beach in front of Passeio das Dunas. The entire population is invited to participate in “pulling the net” to land where you can see the wealth that is still found in the waters that bathe Quarteira in terms of fish. The fish caught is then distributed among those present.
In the musical component, the highlight goes to the concerts by Luciana Abreu and the musician Toy who promise to bring the party to this seaside walk. The offer is diverse and for all tastes, over three days of great entertainment: Valter Cabrita (7 pm), Remember Me 80’s&90’s (9 pm), Raya (11 pm), on June 2; Som Time (7:00 pm), Fado with José Manuel Ferreira and Beatriz Pereira (8:00 pm), Luciana Abreu (9:30 pm) and Sai do Chão – Tribute to Ivete Sangalo (11:00 pm), on June 3rd; Valter Cabrita (7 pm), Tribute to Xutos and Pontapés (9 pm) and Toy (10.30 pm), on June 4th.
This is an initiative of Quarpesca – Association of Shipowners and Fishermen of Quarteira, which has the support of the Municipality of Loulé and the Parish Council of Quarteira.
