Applications for the «Grand March of Lisbon 2023» competition are open until February 22, a joint initiative of the Lisbon City Council and EGEAC – Company for the Management of Equipment and Cultural Animation.
The objective of the competition is to choose the composition (music and lyrics) that, through its literary and musical attributes, outlines a portrait of the city. In addition to «Lisbon», an obligatory theme, this year the lyrics of the composition should also be inspired by Parque Mayer – an iconic space, created in 1922, and for decades the most important center of entertainment and culture in the city, having completed the 100th .th birthday last year.
The winning composition will be presented and interpreted by all participants of the Popular Marches of Lisbon, within the framework of the city’s Festivities in the Avenida da Liberdade parade, on the night of Santo António, as well as in the previous exhibitions.
Open to all, individually or collectively, residing in Portugal and of legal age, this contest is already a tradition for over two decades, annually distinguishing the literary and musical originality of the authors of the winning composition with a prize worth €5,500 (five one thousand five hundred euros).
The Grande Marcha de Lisboa 2023 will be selected by a jury composed of 3 personalities (to be announced soon) from the cultural area who will, respectively, evaluate the music, lyrics, and general composition.
Proposals must be sent, anonymously, by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt, to the headquarters of EGEAC, by the 22nd of February.
