Cristina Branco marks one year of the album Mãe
with concerts in Switzerland, Oman, and Germany
Cristina Branco celebrates this week one year since the release of Mãe, her most recent work. A tribute and return to traditional Fado that has been showcased on stages around the world. Basel, in Switzerland, and Muscat, in Oman, are some of the upcoming stops.
Cristina Branco heads this Friday to Basel with her usual trio formed by Luís Figueiredo (piano), Bernardo Couto (Portuguese guitar), and Bernardo Moreira (double bass). The foundation of her setlist will be Mãe, but the concert is enriched by other songs and fados from her prolific career, giving voice to great authors of Portuguese literature, as has been her tradition.
On November 5th, Branco makes her debut in Oman at the prestigious Royal Opera House Muscat, one of the most emblematic venues in the Middle East. Following that is Leverkusen, in Germany, where she will take the stage at Bayer Erholungshaus on the 8th. The tour continues throughout 2025 with concerts already confirmed in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
In 2024, Cristina Branco has already performed in over thirty venues worldwide, from Latin America to Europe, to present her latest album Mãe. A year filled with concerts that have also included Abril from 2007, a work revisited on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, with a performance scheduled for December 5th at Teatro São Luiz, in Lisbon.
With 18 albums already released, extensive world tours, and various awards, such as two Prix Choc from Le Monde de La Musique and the SPA Album of the Year Award with Menina (2016), Cristina Branco is a true ambassador of Portuguese culture. Traditional music is in her essence, but the influence of jazz, literature, and the musicians with whom she plays give her art a universal dimension.
