“Deixem Pimba em Paz” gave life to Campo Pequeno
More than a show, the return of culture
Yesterday “Deixem Pimba em Paz” at Campo Pequeno, Lisbon, marked the return of culture, shows, artists and audiences after the pandemic lockdown, in a new reality of social distance, precautionary and hygiene measures, but also of hope, with a fantastic show, lots of joy and applause.
[dropcap]B[/dropcap]runo Nogueira and Manuela Azevedo and their “Deixem Pimba em Paz” (Let Pimba in Peace), took the stage at Campo Pequeno, in Lisbon, for another show full of humour and excellent versions of Portuguese popular music, so often called “Pimba”, but that everyone knows, sings and dances so many times in many festivals and popular parties in Portugal.
Accompanied by excellent musicians, Filipe Melo, Nuno Rafael and Nelson Cascais and special guest’s Salvador Sobral and Samuel Úria. This concert Steve was also attended by Minister of Culture Graça Fonseca and Prime Minister António Costa.
In a concert that marks the beginning of a new way of seeing shows, it was with social distance and hygiene rules that the public and the media, in an organized way, entered the Lisbon concert hall, it was with curiosity that everyone wanted to know, how the show was going to happen in this new reality.
It was with great joy and enthusiasm that the audience received the artists and a strong and long applause, I am sure it showed the “Saudade”, a very Portuguese feeling, but also, the happiness of returning to a concert after the Portuguese lockdown, due to the pandemic.
It was with “24 roses” original theme by José Malhoa that the concert started, and followed by 14 more, popular Portuguese songs like “Azar na praia” by Nel Monteiro, “a minha cama com ela” by Mónica Sintra, “Vem devagar emigrant” by Graciano Saga, “Comunhão de bend” by Agata and” Bela Portuguesa “by Diapasão.
Then came on stage Salvador Sobral at the invitation of Bruno Nogueira with “It’s time to call the first guest of the night. He had a heart and now, curiously, he has another one”, the winner of the Eurovision Festival, sang “Som de crystal ” from Marante.
It was followed by “Porque não tem talo o nabo?”, “Sensual”, “Bebé”, “A garagem da vizinha” and “O melhor dia para casar”, some of the best known themes of “Pimba” then the second guest entered, Samuel Úria, who started by reciting a poem and then accompanied Bruno Nogueira in “Mãe querida”.
Between songs and humour, the show was going to the end, it was with Romana’s “Não és homem para mim”, “Ninguém, ninguém” and “Taras e manias” by Marco Paulo and the “Final Medley” that the concert quickly came to an end, but with a lot of joy and applause, despite the new rules, masks and disinfectants, that we all have and should use.
