Festival of the Arts and QuebraJazz come together for joint programming
Entitled the QuebraJazz Arts Festival, the initiative will take place from July 19 to 27, under the theme “Other Worlds”, with daily concerts of classical or jazz music, continuing the partnership established in 2019 with QuebraJazz, which normally takes place on the Quebra Costas staircase, in the upper part of the city.
In the 12th edition of Festival das Artes, four days are dedicated to classical music and another four to jazz, opening with a dialogue between the two musical genres, with a concert by American jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel with the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra .
From July 20 to 23, there will be performances by Os Musicos do Tejo, Aga Khan Master Musicians, the Young Portuguese Orchestra and the Gulbenkian Orchestra, followed by concerts by Javier Colina, Perico Sambeat and Marc Miralta (as CMS Trio), the trio of Mário Laginha with the Englishman Julian Argueles and the Norwegian Helge Norbakken and the trio of Paulo Bandeira with Cristina Branco.
The 2020 edition of the Festival of the Arts was canceled due to the pandemic, resuming this year’s schedule. The festival is organized by the Inês de Castro Foundation, taking place since 2009.
QuebraJazz has been running since 2012 on the Quebra Costas staircases and collaborated for the first time with the Festival of the Arts in 2019.
