Emergente celebrates 5 years. Five years of a beautiful story made with many names!
In addition to all those who formed the teams that made it possible each year – all the partners, supporters and media partners -, over the course of 4 editions, more than 200 bands have competed for the Open Call Super Emergents and 52 have stepped onto its stages. projects, among guests and selected by Open Call. An authentic lineage of the new generation of Portuguese music: from Sunflowers to Pedro Mafama, from Meta_ to Hause Plants, from Bia Maria to Solar Corona or from Ana de Llor to Bandua, many of the artists who passed through Emergente are today confident names in Portuguese music and the enormous talent of an exciting generation.
And in a festive year, we have one more reason to celebrate: we broke the record for applications to the Open Call Super Emergents: 77, of which 72 were accepted. A number that left us overwhelmed with work, but deeply excited! This is our greatest pride, the trust that the new generation of Portuguese music places in the Festival, in the Open Call and in our jury, as well as the credibility manifested in the visibility window and in the set of opportunities that Emergente offers and which are effectively increasingly relevant and important for the journey of Portuguese bands and musical projects.
We are not just talking about quantity, but mainly about the quality of the proposals presented which, once again, proved to be surprising! From hip-hop to electronic music, from spoken word to alt-rock, from reinvented traditional sounds to progressive dream rock, the musical spectrum has broadened considerably and with remarkable consistency, requiring a second vote and final deliberations by the Jury. As a result, the concept of Super Emergent was also expanded, encompassing different dimensions of the temporal factor: musical projects at the beginning of their journey, more recent paths, already started and noticed, and the incessant search for the challenge and sounds of the present.
If we had a larger budget and more Festival days, the number of bands selected for the Line Up, from the Open Call, would certainly be higher. Given the impossibility of encompassing all the talent we would like, we do not neglect the necessary parity of the sample and the scope of musical genres, emphasising their mixtures and intersections. In the end, a huge headache for the Jury and a very difficult choice of the 9 names that will complement the festival’s Line-Up in 2023.

With the line-up revealed, we remind you that the last Early Birds for the 3 days of the festival remain on sale until December 3rd. Afterwards, and until the day before Emergente, the general pass will cost €27.50 and daily tickets will cost €12. On festival days, only daily tickets will be on sale at the door for €15 each.
