“Amigues Com Graça” is the first edition of Lay Down Recordings in 2024 and is available on all digital platforms from today.
What do Filipe Sambado, Luís Severo & Casa Shanghai, Marinho, Tiago Guillul & Samuel Úria, Primeira Dama and many other artists do together in the same compilation? The one who brings them together is Filipe da Graça.
Born in the Algarve, Filipe da Graça debuted with an album of the same name in 2011. At the time he lived in Lisbon (in Graça, of course) and was part of the first wave of indie rock sung in Portuguese. He was part of the mythical FlorCaveira and shared a musical scene with names like Os Pontos Negros, Filipe Sambado, Samuel Úria and many others. He then moved to London, where he lived and played for a decade.
Now back in Portugal, he invites several old and new friends to celebrate 10 years of his first album. The celebratory compilation is called “Amigues com Graça” and is a track-by-track tribute to the album that launched it.

“It was during the pandemic that I realized that I was celebrating 10 years since my first album of the same name and that this moment also coincided with a series of circumstances that brought me back to Portugal full-time. Inspired by other record celebrations and by a genuine desire to try to understand what had changed both in my life and the Portuguese musical universe, I decided to challenge a series of artists who in one way or another had a relationship with me to make their version of the album’s various themes. The result transcends my expectations and makes me very proud of these friends. It is a huge privilege to hear my songs with this new life.”
