The film, which opens next year in Portugal, portrays the legal process from Lucia’s complaint to the police, which was violated by her husband, to the verdict in court.
‘Submissão’, the director’s second feature film, was also selected for the Stony Brook Festival in New York and for ‘Crime and Punishment’ in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Festival takes place in Estonia from 13 to 29 November and is one of the fifteen most prestigious film festivals in the world, according to the International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF).
In addition to Maria João Abreu and João Catarré, the film’s cast also includes Iolanda Laranjeiro, António Fonseca, Cristina Homem de Mello, José Raposo, Marcantonio del Carlo, João Didelet, Martinho Silva, Almeno Gonçalves, Marisa Cruz, António Melo, Rita Brutt, Adriana Moniz, Alexandre Ferreira, Miguel Thiré, Tânia Alves and Rodrigo Paganell, the music is by Rodrigo Leão, Vidia Wesenlund and João Eleutério, and photography by Guilherme Daniel.
This is Leonardo António’s second feature film. Director and also screenwriter and producer, he has other films on his resume, such as ‘O Frágil Som do Meu Motor’ (2012) and ‘Agora que Sou Grande’ (2014).
