Joep Beving, who last year at Misty Fest had several sold-out concerts, returned for a concert at the CCB where he once again enchanted the Portuguese audience.
The Dutch composer and pianist presented his new work ‘Hermetism‘, a return to his piano origins, alone on stage, but filled the Lisbon room with extraordinary melodies.
The new tour is based on the composer and pianist’s fourth album for Deutsche Grammophon. For this work, the composer was inspired by Hermeticism, a spiritual philosophy that comes from ancient writings attributed to the legendary Greek author Hermes Trismegistus.
The pianist asked at the beginning of the show so that the audience did not clap at the end of each theme, because the themes are short and we don’t waste time, but of course, the Portuguese audience, would end up not being able to control themselves, such was the will of show how much he was enjoying it, Joep would end up smiling and willingly thanking him whenever he was applauded.
Beving, was also framing the themes, this record was made in times of a pandemic, like his own boss it was easy to make a statement to go to the studio in Amsterdam every day, one of the themes was made for a young director, who he was also in confinement and took the opportunity to make a film about the time he was confined, or one dedicated to his agent, who was sick, and who always believed in him, even asked the public if they could give him a hug or a friendly word at the end of the concert.
Beving, an Edison Award winner, is one of the most listened-to living pianists in the world and a champion in the streaming universe; “Sleeping Lotus” alone has over 40 million plays on Spotify.
