Lab inDança presents a new creation at the International Dance Festival

After its debut at the 20th edition of Imaginarius – International Street Theater Festival of Santa Maria da Feira, Lab inDança’s new creation, in experimental film format, “Retrato”, now heads to Almada, to be part of the 29th Dance Fortnight of Almada – International Dance Festival. “Retrato” will be screened on October 7th, at 9 pm, at the Fernando Lopes-Graça auditorium, at the Romeu Correia Municipal Forum, in Almada, followed by a moment of conversation between the audience, the artistic team and the interpreters.

The short film Retrato is the new artistic creation of the project by Santa Maria da Feira, Lab inDança, and is the result of a long period of uncertainty and adaptation caused by the adversities inherent to the pandemic crisis. In 2020, the creation of a new show was planned, however, all the conditions led to the need to rethink the dynamics and the model of its presentation, thus giving rise to the “Retrato” (“Portrait”).

An interior journey based on questions about oneself and the expression of thoughts and emotions coming from different ways of looking at one’s own image. Rediscovering the body through gesture, sound, painting and will, building imaginary and poetic landscapes in a dance that oscillates between reality, dreams and the perception of the performer projecting himself into the world. This film is born from the power of intention on the lyricism with which the truth portrays itself”.

Lab inDança is an inclusive dance project created and promoted by the Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, since 2015, under the artistic direction of Clara Andermatt, which involves providing everyone, and in particular people with disabilities, multiple training experiences and performatives in contemporary dance, based on the idea of accessibility of the artistic experience as a value and a right. Lab InDança is supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, through the PARTIS – Artistic Practices for Social Inclusion initiative.
