Now available on all digital platforms, “Óscar” anticipates the release of an EP and features a video directed by André Tentugal.
Mafalda Veiga, one of the most important and recognized Portuguese singers and songwriters, is back with “ÓSCAR”, a new single and video that anticipates the release of her next EP.
The song tells the story of ÓSCAR, a young dreamer who loves cinema and travels around the city by bus or on foot in the rain, between his karate and ballet classes. Crossing the city, he dreams of becoming an artist like Marlon Brando, Nureyev or Gene Kelly, some of his heroes. He wants to “enjoy winter” and “dance in the rain”, “know how to talk about love” and “sing like Nat King Cole”, learn the tango and “listen to Chopin while eating a croissant”.
ÓSCAR likes it when life appears unmeasured when it catches him on the avenue, and between a kiss and a bite, anything can happen. The organic sound of Mafalda Veiga’s guitar with an electronic approach transports us to a relaxed, happy and hopeful atmosphere. The video crosses references from music and cinema with the city of Lisbon, having been directed by André Tentugal.
The new single has lyrics and music by Mafalda Veiga, accompanied by António Vasconcelos Dias on electric, acoustic and piano guitar, David Santos on bass, Miguel Casais on drums and Manuel Oliveira on Hammond. The production was in charge of Agir, Nelson Carvalho and Mafalda Veiga herself.
