This was the first time that the same film won the award for best European horror short and best Portuguese horror short at MOTELX.
The jury was composed by the actress Sónia Balacó, the producer Josh Wallers and the vice president of acquisitions and global co-productions of the streaming platform Shudder, Emily Gotto. The prize is 5,000 euros.
The big winner of the MOTELX Award — best European horror feature film was awarded to the film “The Feast”, by Welsh director Lee Haven Jones.
The jury also decided to give a special mention to “Um fio de baba escarlate“, by Carlos Conceição, the only national feature film in competition.
The 15th MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival began on April 4th, at Cinema S. Jorge, in Lisbon, with the premiere of “The Green Knight“, by David Lowery, and the launch of a dedicated program to Portuguese horror cinema.
“Um fio de baba escarlate“, by Carlos Conceição, “O lobo solitário“, by Filipe Melo, “The land of no return“, by Patrick Mendes, “The deep house“, by the duo Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, were some of the of feature films selected for the competition for best European feature film.
The program also included films such as “Bloody Countess”, by Julie Delpy, and “Monster”, with Charlize Theron, included in the retrospective of “Murdering Fury – Women Serial Killer”.
The closing session, which takes place this evening, includes the screening of “The Night House“, by David Bruckner.
