On the 24th of January 2025, the acclaimed Portuguese guitarist Pedro Jóia will take the stage at the São Luiz Municipal Theatre in Lisbon. Accompanied by several special guests, Pedro Jóia presents a repertoire that covers the major milestones of his career and his latest work, Mosaico.
With more than 30 years of career, Pedro Jóia is one of the most prestigious Portuguese guitarists and composers. Winner of two Carlos Paredes awards and holder of 1st place in the top sales in Portugal with the album Zeca, the musician has built a solid career that reflects the richness of Portuguese music and the universality of the guitar.
Throughout his career, he collaborated with some of the greatest names in world music, such as Ney Matogrosso, Gilberto Gil, Simone, Mariza, Ricardo Ribeiro and Resistência, among others. His art has already shone as a soloist alongside several international orchestras, including the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Venezuela, the Madeira Classical Orchestra and the Macau Chinese Orchestra.
Recognized for its ability to combine tradition and innovation, Pedro Jóia presents a discography that honours unmissable figures of Portuguese music. Works such as Variations on Carlos Paredes, Waiting for Armandinho and Zeca are testimonies of his deep respect for the cultural roots of the country. In Mosaico, his latest album, the guitarist explores influences ranging from fado to flamenco, through oriental music, reaffirming his talent as a creator of unique musical bridges.
The concert in Lisbon will be enriched by the presence of guests of luxury who have accompanied Pedro Jóia in several stages of his career. Confirmed are José Manuel Neto (Portuguese guitar), the percussionist José Salgueiro and the Arabesco Quartet, who will join the guitarist to offer the public a night of music of rare intensity and beauty. In tribute to the legacy of Carlos Paredes, who in 2025 celebrates 100 years since his birth, Pedro Jóia will dedicate a special moment to the show by revisiting the work of the master of the Portuguese guitar.
