Jewish Life Television’s Global Travel Series “Air Land & Sea” Premiere
The Jewish Life Television / JLTV announces the premiere of Portuguese Sefarad in the 20th & 21st Centuries, as part of its ongoing global travel series, “Air Land & Sea.”
Hosted by Brad Pomerance, this episode of “Air Land & Sea” will premiere on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 9:00 PM ET / PT.
The episode includes interviews with:
• Margarida Ramalho from the Vilar Formoso Museum of Peace, which sits on the border of Portugal and Spain. This Museum honours the heroic work of Portuguese Diplomat Aristides de Sousa Mendes, who issued over 10,000 visas to European Jews during the Second World War.
• The Honorable Maria Roseira, who, when serving as the President of the Portuguese Socialist Party in the Parliament in 2013, spearheaded the passage of Portugal’s Sephardic Citizenship Law, which allows descendants of Portuguese Jews expelled during the Inquisition Era to apply for Portuguese Citizenship.
• Michael Rothwell, from the Porto Jewish Community, one of two communities in Portugal that evaluates applications for Portuguese Citizenship filed by descendants of Portuguese Sephardic Jews.
• Nirit Harel, who, as a descendant of Portuguese Jews, has filed an application for Portuguese Citizenship.
