This new version of “Romeo and Juliet” takes us into the world of romantic love, a love that nothing and no one can destroy. A love that is blind, a kind of love so strong that even death cannot be overcome.
Can this story be transposed to the present, in a time when self-centeredness, selfishness, and self-indulgence are a major focus in our lives? As a play that people relate to, “Romeo and Juliet” is recognized by most cultures as the greatest love story of all time.
Daniel Cardoso’s choreography, alongside Sergei Prokofiev’s music, aims to question the audience about what is most precious in our lives and what we often forget… Love.
Daniel Cardoso continues his work of revisiting great classics (beginning with the versions of “Lagos dos Cisnes” and “Sagração da Primavera”), in the light of today with this creation inspired by “Romeo and Juliet”. The show originally premiered in 2020, at Cineteatro João V in Amadora, followed by a tour of Denmark and a return to Portugal for some dates across the country.
