Sumol Summer Fest with more confirmations

WIZ KHALIFA, AYA NAKAMURA, IANN DIOR and MIZZY MILES & FRIENDS

Costa da Caparica is the new home of Sumol Summer Fest, at the Inatel Camping Park, next to Praia de São João. June 30th and July 1st.

Sumol Summer Fest is back in 2023, now at the Inatel Camping Park, right next to São João Beach in Costa da Caparica. On the 30th of June and the 1st of July, it once again marks the arrival of holidays and summer, with the beach, friends, and the best music of the moment. After the confirmations of Popcaan, Matuê, Profjam, Bárbara Bandeira, Mishlawi, and Children of Zeus, the bar rises again with the confirmations of Wiz Khalifa, Aya Nakamura, Iann Dior, and Mizzy Miles & Friends.

WIZ KHALIFA

Wiz Khalifa is one of the biggest names in hip-hop on a planetary scale. Cameron Thomaz was born in the US state of North Dakota in 1987. After his parents’ divorce, he lived in a number of different places, accumulating experiences and absorbing cultures from a very young age. Due to his father’s influence, music emerged from a very early age. At just 12 years old, he was already rehearsing his first recordings. A little while later he settled in Pittsburgh and it wasn’t long before he started to get noticed, catching the attention of the independent label Rostrum Records. But success quickly went beyond the regional scale, especially after the release of the mixtape “Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania”. And with the independent release of his first album, “Show and Prove”, the public and major publications laid eyes on young Wiz’s talent. Since then he has never stopped, building one of the most stimulating careers among rappers of the last decade. Among several singles, mixtapes and albums such as “Rolling Papers” (2011), “O.N.I.F.C.” (2012), “Blacc Hollywood” (2014) or “Khalifa” (2016), the American rapper has always been in the race for the most important awards in pop music and for sales and views records -“See You Again” (ft . Charlie Puth), for example, is among the most viewed music videos ever on YouTube. After “Rolling Papers 2”, released in 2018, the rapper returned to records in 2022 with his seventh career record. “Multiverse” was recorded in the rapper’s personal studios in Los Angeles and is a collection of songs marked by maturity, focusing on themes such as self-acceptance, fatherhood and emotional growth. Singles like “Iced Out Necklace” or “Bad Ass Bitches” prove the good form of this phenomenon that passes through Portugal on the first day of July, for another edition of Sumol Summer Fest.

AYA NAKAMURA

Aya Coco Danioko, known as Aya Nakamura, is a Malian-French singer. She was born in Bamako, Mali, into a family of storytellers. And her story begins with a move to Europe in her childhood. Aya immigrated with her family to France and was raised in the suburbs of Paris. She adopted the name Nakamura in reference to a television show, but it was on the internet that she started to stand out, especially after opening her YouTube channel. Interpretations of songs like “Karma” or “J’ai mal” conquered thousands of fans, but the level of fame rose even more after the publication of “Brisé”, a song that today has been viewed more than 40 million times on YouTube. Aya offers an irresistible mix of Afrobeat and R&B, manifesting a very sharp pop sensibility. After already having an impressive fan base, he signed with Warner Music France and released his debut album, “Journal Intime”, in 2017. With collaborations with names like MHD, KeBlack and Gradur, the album jumped to the top of the album best sellers in France. The next album, “Nakamura”, achieved even greater success. The single “Djadja” conquered not only France but also the whole of Europe. Internationalization was more and more a reality for Aya, as she soon realized by the reception of the third album: “Aya”. This album also has at least one international hit, “Jolie Nana”, and collaborations with names like Stormzy or Ms. Banks. After a series of other successful singles, Aya edited “SMS” and “Baby”, two singles that preceded the new album, “DNK”, edited this year. With the songs that conquered the world and another series of new themes in her luggage, the singer will visit Portugal in another edition of Sumol Summer Fest, on June 30th.

IANN DIOR

When you listen to Iann Dior, you immediately get the idea that the young musician already seems to occupy a place that is his alone, despite his age. Iann grew up in Texas and started making his first songs when he was just 17 years old, signing with pseudonyms like Olmo or Lil Rock. Michael Ian Olmo quickly abandoned these signatures and started signing as Iann Dior. Themes about his heartbreak, sex, and even self-medication started out as mere unpretentious exercises, but quickly caught the attention of the most attentive. And it didn’t take long for Iann to really stand out with the track “cutthroat”, released in 2019. The theme was produced by Nick Mira, who had already worked with rappers like Juice WRLD or Lil Skies. From here the young performer never stopped, signing with Ten Thousand Projects, the same label with names like 6ix9ine or Trippie Redd. After having edited the first mixtape, “Nothings Ever Good Enough”, Iann edited the singles “Gone Girl”, with labelmate Trippie Redd, and “What Is Real”, both included in his first album “Industry Plant”. This debut record also features the collaborations of names like them, Travis Barker, Gunna, or Poorstacy, and is marked by the emotional pain that permeates the themes, in a frankly convincing emo-rap record without losing a pop appeal capable of catapulting Iann into the international stardom. And that definitely happened with his participation in the single “Mood” by 24kGoldn, a resounding success all over the place. After this success, Iann did not stop editing his own songs, starting collaborations, and preparing a second album that would arrive in January 2022. “On to Better Things” includes the singles “Live Fast Die Numb” and “Valley of Lies ” (with Tomorrow X Together) and features Lil Uzi Vert, Machine Gun Kelly, and, again, Travis Barker. Iann Dior shows with this record that he is really one of the names of the moment and, as it should be, he already has a scheduled trip to Portugal, on the 1st of July at the Sumol Summer Fest.

MIZZY MILES & Friends

Mizzy Miles is one of the great names in national music and production, especially in the world of hip-hop and urban music, adding, in just a few years of activity, seven platinum and seven gold songs. Even though he started out as a DJ, it was as a music producer that Mizzy Miles began to stand out, namely thanks to the production of several of Tay’s songs, in the first year of great expansion by the author of “Pensa Bem”, “Não Quero” and “# Liked”. Already in 2020, Mizzy starts to present herself in a prominent plan, exposing the first themes in her own name, surrounding herself with the main figures of the urban movement in Portugal, and expanding her sound in collaborations with 9 Miller, Benji Price, Carla Prata, Minguito, Lhast, Lon3r Johny and Prodigio. In 2022, he exploded in the media with the huge success “Europa” (with Deejay Telio, Teto & Gson), with more than 5 million views on Youtube and 6 million plays on Spotify. At the same time, he participated in the production of “What have you been doing?”, with Chyna, and also “M.O.D” with Kosmo Da Gun, Xakal Da Gun, and Piruka. And he still closed the year with another hit: “I’m Sorry”, together with Ivandro and Piruka. In recent times, the artist, created between Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro, has also had the first opportunity, after the pandemic situation, to perform on stage with all the strength, skill, and presence that characterize him, being able to dazzle all those who saw him in concerts from north to south of the country. After a dreamlike 2022, 2023 promises to be even brighter with the release of his first studio album and his performance in the middle of the Sumol Summer Fest. And Mizzy brings friends as special guests to this unmissable concert. Mizzy Miles & Friends perform July 1st.
