Temperatures descending and rain returning only a week until the summer
Here are the weather forecasts for this Friday, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
We are precisely a week from the start of the summer, but the state of the weather gives few clues about the approach of the summer season. The IPMA predicts for today in the continent periods of overcast sky, becoming little cloudy especially in the South from the late afternoon and weak rain in the North and Center, especially on the coast, from the morning.
The forecast also points to weak to moderate wind from the west quadrant, sometimes blowing strong in the Algarve during the afternoon, morning mist or fog in some locations and a small drop in maximum temperature in the interior regions.
The minimum temperatures in the continent will range from 5 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) to 13 (in Faro and Lisbon) and the maximum between 15 (in Guarda) and 22 (in Castelo Branco and Setúbal).
Six municipalities of Faro and Portalegre in the maximum risk of fire
At the maximum risk of fire are the counties of Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Castro Marim, Tavira and Alcoutim (Faro) and Marvão (Portalegre).
The IPMA also placed more than three dozen municipalities in the districts of Beja, Portalegre, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Bragança, Viseu and Vila Real at very high risk.
According to the institute, there are also several counties in almost all districts of the continent at high risk of fire.
The fire risk determined by the IPMA has five levels, ranging from “reduced” to “maximum”, with “high” being the third most serious level.
Calculations for this risk are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
