Uguru starts new collaboration with Rão Kyao in 2021

Rão Kyao joins UGURU, which will become the agency responsible for scheduling and managing his shows, both those currently on tour and the new Gandhi project “a Portuguese man honors Gandhi” which will be released on disk worldwide in May this year and whose national and international tour will start in 2022. Uguru will also ensure the career management of this new project.

António Cunha, general director of Uguru had already managed the artist’s career, when he still held the same role in the now-defunct União Lisboa. Together they developed the projects Junção, Fado Virado a Nascente, a disc with the participation of the singer Fado Deolinda Bernardo in the voice, a collective of Moroccan musicians and collaborations by Teresa Salgueiro and Pedro Ayres de Magalhães, from Madredeus. In the early years of UGURU, they worked on the album and tour Porto Alto, a project with the participation of the Spanish Gerardo Núñez, one of the most recognized flamenco guitarists today.

Rão Kyao’s career is one of the richest and most extensive in Portuguese music: Rão sees the world as few, dialogues with many cultures, from Africa to Brazil, from China to India, from America to Spain, always trying to use the Portuguese soul which translates so well with its unique breath as a bridge to get closer to other peoples, other languages and other experiences. No other Portuguese musician does it this way, with this intensity and with such recognition.” -Urugu.
