33rd edition of Amadora BD already has a date set
From the 20th to the 30th of October, the biggest Comics Festival in Portugal returns to the city of Amadora and, with an enlarged area, opens its doors again in 3 different locations in the city
The biggest comic book event in Portugal is back in the city of Amadora. From October 20th to 30th, the city hosts the 33rd edition of Amadora BD.
Once again in a decentralized format, the Amadora BD 2022 opens again the doors of the Central Nucleus at Ski Skate Amadora Park. With an extended area of 2,100 m2, the Central Core of Amadora 2022 will host for the first time in the Festival grounds a new area dedicated to gaming.
With a covered area of 200 m2, the Amadora BD gaming space (created in partnership with MagicShot), will be the stage for numerous initiatives related to comics: cosplay, arcade games, virtual reality, video games, consoles, championships, presentations, among others.
The exhibition area (950 m2) will host 10 exhibitions by national and international authors and the extended shopping area (950 m2) – which will host numerous launches, autograph sessions, presentations and lectures – complete the Amadora BD offer at Ski Skate Amadora Park.
In the spaces of the Artur Bual Municipal Gallery and the Bedeteca da Amadora – Fernando Piteira Santos Library, 3 individual exhibitions will be on display.
The Portugal-France relationship, the general theme of the 2022 edition of Amadora BD, is also the inspiration for the general scenography of the event which, this year and at the invitation of the direction of Amadora BD, will feature an original illustration by Juan Cavia, winner (the par with Filipe Melo) of the award for Best BD Work by Portuguese Author in the PBDA in 2021.
The event will culminate with the usual ceremony for the Comic Book Awards of Amadora (PBDA), which once again awards a cash prize of €5,000 to the Best Comic Book by Portuguese Author.
