8th edition Lisbon Bar Show 2023 at Altice Arena in May
Sala Tejo (Altice Arena, Parque das Nações, in Lisbon) will be the stage for another edition of the Lisbon Bar Show, which will take place on the 16th and 17th of May.
Alberto Pires, mentor, and founder of the event presented the main highlights to the press, partners, exhibitors, and industry professionals.
There are several novelties in the 2023 edition. First of all, a different schedule from previous years (from 12:00 to 20:00) and will feature several lectures, guest speakers, and exhibitors, among other attractions. The Lisbon Bar Show is, according to Alberto Pires, “the platform for sharing knowledge, and trends in the bar industry that has some of the most important names in the sector. It is also the right place for exchanging experiences and getting to know what is best done, both nationally and internationally.”
The presentation event, which took place at the Myriad by SANA Hotel, was the kick-off of this year’s edition and annually serves to reveal the main novelties: “The 8th edition of the Lisbon Bar Show will be, once again, the knowledge platform and networking, which hosts and promotes, this year, the 1st Iberian Congress of Bartenders, opening the door to a new dimension in the territory and bilateral relations between the two countries”, he said.
The 1st Iberian Congress of Bartenders will have lectures, round tables, and debates, exchange of ideas on the main trends of the two markets and have already confirmed names such as Fernando Brito, President of the Technical Council of Associação Barmen de Portugal; Marc Alvarez of SIPS Bar in Barcelona; François Monti, a writer who arrived from Madrid; Pablo Melian, Bartenders.news, Spain; Sergio Estevez, consultant, also from the neighboring country; and, Daniel Nevsky, Courtesy Martin Miller’s (Barcelona). These are, for now, the announced names that will be part of the Congress.
The complete program of the Lisbon Bar Show 2023 will be revealed at the end of March, but some of the names – national and international – that we can count on in those May days have already been revealed. From Australia, Stefano Catino and Martin Hudák (Maybe Sammy Bar), Luca Cinalli (consultant, London), Giancarlo Mancino (consultant Bar & Beverage, Italy), Nate Sorby (Global Brand Ambassador of Cazcabel Tequila – Cardiff, United Kingdom ), Davide Fornasiero (Bartender Engagement & Advocacy Specialist, courtesy Campari/Empor Spirits, Italy), Julio Cabrera (Café La Trova, Miami), Giorgio Bargani (Deputy Director, Connaught Bar, London), Tommaso Cecca (Head Bartender of Camparino, Milan), Walter Meyenberg & Georgina Barbachano (Hanky Panky, Mexico), Benjamin Fabio Cavagna (1930 Cocktail Bar, Italy), Tom Dyer (Flyer Camp, London), Fabio Milani (Coffee Flair, Italy), Maros Dzurus (HIMKOK , Oslo), Gabriela Cañedo Sandoval (tequila specialist, Mexico), and, from Portugal, already confirmed João Sancheira (100 Maneiras).
The Lisbon Bar Show, as a reference event for professionals, unique and singular in its characteristics, has been an inspiration for thousands of participants over the years. It is also a tradition to receive a guest country and in 2023 it will be Brazil. In addition to the already confirmed names that will be present in May, such as consultant Márcio Silva, a “repeat” in several editions, or Thiago Bañares, from TAN TAN Bar, the irreverent Steph Marinkovic, consultant, and, Derivan Ferreira de Souza, renowned consultant and from the “old school” land of Vera Cruz, we will also have, and for the first time outside Brazil, the final of the Rabo de Galo National Contest. There will be 3 regional stages and the final will be played at the Lisbon Bar Show.
The presentation of the Lisbon Bar Show would not be complete without revealing the short list of finalists for the Lisbon Bar Show Awards. The grand finalists are divided into 11 categories and the awards ceremony will take place on May 17th, at 7:15 pm, thus ending the 8th edition of the Lisbon Bar Show in a festive atmosphere.
