Amoreiras Shopping Center gives stage to urban artistic expression

• Urban art is the main protagonist of this new exhibition
• 7 unique installations that cultivate the public’s imagination in each creation

From May 6th to June 19th, Amoreiras Shopping Center will transport urban art from the streets into the mall, giving space to creativity, free-thinking and sharing between artists and the public.

In an exhibition that showcases new installations by seven Portuguese street artists, Amoreiras Creative Hall will be a journey into the imagination of these artists, with a very unique style, from illustration to realism.

Helio Bray, Styler, Adamastor Studio, Gonçalo Mar, Los Pepes Studio, Mariana Duarte Santos and João is Typing are the guest artists in this show. According to the duo Meggie Prata and Francisco Leal, from Los Pepes Studio, responsible for the curatorship of this exhibition, the main criterion for choosing the invited artists was the relevance of their artistic projects in the public sphere, more specifically through urban art.

“We wanted to transport the universe of urban art and what is being done today to Amoreiras. Within this universe, we sought to invite artists with different works, to show the different approaches that exist. Another aspect that we took into account was the integration of artists who are at different stages of their careers”, say Los Pepes Studio.

Accustomed to using city walls as canvases, Helio Bray, one of the featured artists at the show, says that he took advantage of the exhibition at Amoreiras to once again demonstrate his artistic versatility. “I am an artist who loves to innovate. For this exhibition, I created two works face to face, one monochromatic and the other well marked by colour, as if in an ode representative of the various phases of our lives”, explains the contemporary artist.

The exhibition will have guided group tours, with a maximum of 25 people, which will take place in May (7th and 21st) and in June (4th and 18th), at 11 am. Visits are free and appointments must be made at the mall’s information desk.

Amoreiras Shopping Center invites visitors to enter the imagination of these artistic minds and walk through Amoreiras Creative Hall, a cultural space where the presence of the public makes the artistic experience real.
