Mário Costa, drummer, and composer, presents the single “Chromosome”, the first theme to be unveiled from the new album with the same title, to be released in February by the Portuguese publisher CleanFeed, considered Editor of the Year 2022 by The New York newspaper City Jazz Record.
Mário Costa is accompanied by musicians of excellence in his new work: Cuong Vu, a Vietnamese-American jazz trumpeter who played with David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, Pat Metheny Group, among others; and renowned French musicians: Benoît Delbecq on piano and synthesizers, and Bruno Chevillon on double bass.
The musician is one of the great references of national contemporary jazz and drums and has built a remarkable path over the last few years. He also became a serious case of success in international jazz, performing alongside legendary musicians such as Michel Portal, Wynton Marsalis, and Joachim Kühn, and belonging to formations such as the quintet of European jazz revelation, Emile Parisien, or the quartet of British saxophonist Andy Sheppard.
In February Mário Costa will present the new album and has already scheduled some presentation concerts:
February 24th – Belém Cultural Center, Lisbon
February 25th – Maison 826, Braga
February 26 Galerie Paul Fort, Paris
