Exhibition of 50 billboards with photographs by Alfredo Cunha
to visit on the streets of the city of Amadora, starting this Thursday, March 14th
From music to urban art, from cinema to poetry, Amadora City Council prepared an intense program to celebrate 50 years of democracy in Portugal and praise the ‘City that was Born in April’.
Among the various initiatives scheduled, highlights include the Exhibition April 25, 1974, Thursday by Alfredo Cunha (on display at Galeria Municipal Artur Bual until June 23), the unveiling of a bas-relief tile panel by Alexandre Farto/ VHILS ‘Honoring those who work’ (based on photographs by Alfredo de Cunha) on the facade of the Paços do Concelho building, from mid-April), the 35th edition of the José Afonso award; ‘A Poesia Sai à Rua’ (event dedicated to poetry centered on poetic art during the Estado Novo period), the dance show “VOZ.”, by Quorum Ballet, with choreography by Daniel Cardoso and music by Rodrigo Leão, the show ‘Os Portugueses’ by Rodrigo Leão and also the 2024 edition of Amadora BD (this year dedicated to characters and authors whose ideals and themes intersect with those of the Carnation Revolution).
Amadora, the city that was born in April
Built by the working class, Amadora was the first city built after the 25th of April. With a strong active role in artistic expression and dissemination, the Municipality regularly develops numerous activities that promote inclusion and affirm its diversity in the artistic-cultural panorama.
