June 1st to 9th, 2024 with free entry

From classic titles to new Italian cinema, all films will have subtitles in Portuguese and English.

From the 1st to the 9th of June, Casa das Histórias Paula Rego in Cascais hosts the premiere in Portugal of the CINEMAITALIA Italian Film Festival with screenings of films ranging from classic to modern Italian cinema, all with subtitles in Portuguese and English. Entry is free, subject to room capacity. The curation was done with great passion and care by Italian director and producer Giulia Brazzale, from Esperimentocinema, resident in Cascais and enthusiastic about the cultural union between Portugal and Italy.

The program is divided into “NEW ITALIAN CINEMA”, with titles of different genres, produced in 2024, 2023 and 2022 and classic films in “RETROSPECTIVE”, by directors such as Zeffirelli, Comencini and Lina Wertmüller, first woman to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Director. The selection of films also has a special look at women in front of and behind the camera, emerging directors who are making their mark today.

The film exhibition has the support of Cascais City Council, Fundação D. Luís I and Instituto Italiano di Cultura di Lisbona and is sponsored by Fidelidade Seguros, Azimut Investments, Grande Real Villa Itália Hotel & Spa, Damiani and with the invaluable collaboration of Nico Rossini and Erica Bernardini, respectively Director and Curator of the Italian Film Festival in Brazil, presented in 75 cities and celebrating its 19th edition.
