FC Porto beats Rio Ave in Vila do Conde (3-0)
This Saturday, FC Porto won Vila do Conde 3-0 to secure second place in the championship and consequent direct access to the group stage of the Champions League.
After a goalless first half, the dragons went full force in the second half and won with goals from Toni Martínez (56’), Luis Díaz (59’) and Sérgio Oliveira (68’).
The dragons reach 77 points, four ahead of Benfica, while Rio Ave added another defeat and remains in a very delicate situation in the table: Miguel Cardoso’s team leaves for the last day in 16th (play-off place with the 3rd of League 2), with 31 points, the same as for Farense, but an advantage in the direct confrontation for the Vila do Conde team.
If Nacional does not win in Famalicão, on Sunday, Rio Ave will need to make at Nacional’s home, in the last round, a result equal to or better than Farense (travels to the Azores to face Santa Clara) in order not to be directly demoted.
