Portuguese-Ukrainian accordionist Sérgio Gladkyy performs in Fundão as part of the BEYRA Artistic Laboratory’s Chamber Music program on October 1, World Music Day, at 6:30 pm, at the Casino Fundanense.
An intimate concert that brings the audience and performer closer together. Sérgio Gladkyy is a young and prominent Portuguese accordionist, born in Ukraine in 2002 and living in the Algarve from an early age. He is a member of the Beira Interior Orchestra Ensemble and has won several prestigious competitions, including the Ageas New Talents Award in 2024, which led him to perform at Casa da Música.
To mark World Music Day, Sérgio Gladkyy will also perform two special concerts throughout the day: at the Príncipe da Beira Senior Hotel and at the Serra da Gardunha Elementary School, engaging audiences of all ages and fulfilling the true purpose of chamber music—being close to people.
This program reflects BEYRA’s mission: to bring excellent music to different locations in Beira Interior, fostering audience development and cultural appreciation of the region.
The BEYRA Artistic Laboratory, organised by Artway, is a project dedicated to supporting and promoting young emerging musicians, offering them a space for experimentation, growth, and artistic performance. The goal is to create concrete, professional opportunities for new talents to develop their careers in an inspiring and excellent environment.

BIOGRAPHY | SERGIO GLADKYY
He is a Portuguese accordionist born in Ukraine in 2002, living in the Algarve since his early years, and whose career is already rich in awards, such as the Trophee Mondiale de L’accordeon 2017, the Young Musicians Award 2022, Folefest 2023, and the New Talents Ageas Award 2024. He studied at the Albufeira Conservatory of Music and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Performance at the University of Évora, with a repertoire that includes original works and transcriptions. He has performed in major concert halls in Portugal, such as the Marquês de Pombal Palace, the Suggia Room at Casa da Música, and the Grand Auditorium of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Trophee Mondiale de l’Accordeon: won this international competition in 2017.
Young Musicians Award: won this prestigious national award in 2022.
Folefest: won first place in this competition in 2023.
New Talents Ageas Award: was the grand winner of this award in 2024.
He is a member of the Beira Interior Orchestra Ensemble, created through the BEYRA Artistic Laboratory, which brings together young musicians aged 18 to 27.
He has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as F. Deschamps, F. Lips, and M. Vayrynen.
