“Ai Vida” is a rare moment in the work of Amália Rodrigues, a duet with Jorge Fernando, who accompanied her for many years. The video that debuts today takes us to some of the most iconic places in the life and work of Voz de Portugal.
[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ilmed at Estúdio 01 by Valentim de Carvalho, where Amália recorded most of her discography, the video retrieves images of the 1989 singer, offstage, at her holiday home in Brejão. It was initially produced for a show with musical direction by Jorge Fernando that took place in July this year at Herdade Amália, in connection with the celebrations of its Centenary.
The recording of this duet dates back to 1996, but earlier this year Jorge Fernando reformulated some of the song’s original arrangements, thus giving it a new vitality. Amália da Piedade Rebordão Rodrigues left us on 6 October 1999.
