Lamego City Council becomes a founding member of the Serralves Foundation
Within the scope of the implementation of the territorial enhancement strategy in Lamego
The Municipality of Lamego became a founding member of the Serralves Foundation, under a cooperation protocol established between the two institutions.
Through this new partnership, the Municipality of Lamego joins the group of founding members of Serralves, thus enabling the Lamecian population and local entities to have wider access and greater proximity to art, culture, creative industries and various initiatives of environmental awareness promoted by the Foundation.
A cultural event will also take place annually in Lamego under the umbrella of Serralves.
The City Council of Lamego was recognized with the status of founder through the formalization of a protocol recently signed with the Serralves Foundation. In addition to this new assignment, this agreement establishes a partnership between both institutions with the aim of disseminating and promoting art among the Lamecian community, namely through the carrying out of various cultural and environmental activities.
Francisco Lopes, Mayor of Lamego, underlines “the importance of this partnership in carrying out several common cultural projects, but also in the context of implementing educational and environmental awareness initiatives. For Lamego it will be an excellent opportunity to host exhibitions and unique cultural events, with the seal of Serralves, and also to reinforce the notoriety of our municipality at the national level. On the other hand, it should also be noted that this agreement will allow the population to have closer contact with various artistic initiatives and Portuguese and foreign creators, which will also be a way of expanding and promoting their cultural habits.”
As the founder of Serralves, the Municipality of Lamego will have access to a set of actions related to this new statute, which translate into specific programming adapted to the local community and which encompasses the promotion of contemporary culture and environmental awareness, associated with other specialized skills of the Serralves Foundation.
The protocol was signed between the president of the City Council of Lamego, Francisco Lopes, and the president of the Board of Directors of the Serralves Foundation, Ana Pinho, in a ceremony that was also attended by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the Minister of Culture, Graça Fonseca.
