The film “Beyond is the Day“, by Polish director Damian Kocur, won the prize for best fiction at the 17th edition of the Évora International Short Film Festival (FIKE).
In addition to this award, prizes were also given for the best documentary for the film “Son of the Streets”, by Mohammed Almughanni, and for the best animation for the film “Ecorce”, by Samuel Patthey and Silvain Monney.
In the closing session of this edition of the festival, which took place on Saturday night, at Teatro Garcia de Resende, the film “O que não se vê” by Paulo Abreu received the award for best Portuguese short film, with director André Roseira was distinguished by the jury with the “Prémio Novos Talentos”, for the film “Carapau de Espinho“.
The “Prémio do Público” was awarded to the film “Sortes”, by Mónica Martins Nunes, by choice of the spectators who attended the various competition sessions of this festival.
The 17th edition of FIKE presented 43 films in the competition, from two dozen countries, in the fiction, animation and documentary categories, in an edition that included several parallel exhibitions and a tribute to Portuguese filmmaker António-Pedro Vasconcelos.
The award for the best documentary was voted by the Estação Imagem Jury, composed by producer Pedro Borges, director Abel Rosa and director and documentary filmmaker Jorge Costa Campos.
The festival, which began on the 20th of this month, ended on Saturday night, with the awarding of prizes to the winning films in the various categories in the competition.
