The show takes place this weekend December 9th and 10th. The session on the 9th is at 9:00 pm and the one on Sunday is at 4:00 pm.
TEC hosts this show in a close relationship of friendship and admiration for the work of Barraca and Maria do Céu Guerra, one of the founders of TEC in 1965, with her work widely recognized at a cultural level in the country.
Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797), a pioneer of feminist thought, the woman who dared to demand equality between women and men at a time when the very idea of equality was unacceptable, found herself seriously ill, following childbirth, she suffered from an acute puerperal fever. In the delirium of fever, Wollstonecraft believes she is giving a lecture. Her only audience is her newborn daughter, who would become the acclaimed writer Mary Shelley, author of one of the classics of world literature: Frankenstein.
Moving, dramatic, poetic, political, and pedagogical in this show, Wollstonecraft tells her daughter and all the women and men who listen: “Never allow anyone to make you eat the bitter bread of dependence. Fight, fight to be yourself. And never be afraid of what others might think.”
