Desportivo das Aves is the champion of the Revelation League
A draw with Sporting de Braga was enough for the Desportivo das Aves team to celebrate.
[dropcap type=”background”]T[/dropcap]he Desportivo das Aves was crowned Wednesday, the champion of the first ever edition of the Revelation League. The team led by Leandro Pires was not more than a draw in the visit to Sporting de Braga but benefited from the defeat of Rio Ave against Estoril.
A real crowd in the Fan saw the Desportivo das Aves set to open the scoring just four minutes into the game, through Abdoulaye. In the second half, Martelo finally scored the equalizer.
This result meant that, in case of triumph over Estoril, Rio Ave would lift the trophy. However, the Estoril did not leave him and, playing in Vila do Conde, won 2-1.
Rio Ave was the first team to score within five minutes, but in the second half allowed the ‘somersault’ in the result, which tossed him out of the title race.
At the same time, in Alvalade, Sporting received Benfica knowing that they could only become champion if they won and both opponents in this fight ‘slip’. The first predicate was confirmed – the Lions won by 4-2 – but the second did not.
The Lions reached the interval to win 3-0, thanks to the goals of Paulinho, Marco Túlio and Pedro Mendes. In the second half, the Reds reduced, through Diogo Pinto and Anthony Carter, but a new attempt by Marco Túlio sealed the result.
After the match, Desportivo das Aves finishes the first edition of Revelation League at the top with 43 points, followed by Sporting (42) and Rio Ave (41), inequality with Estoril. Benfica is fifth with 32 points and Sporting Braga sixth with 28.
