In the second game of the second round of Group F of Euro’2020, Portugal went to Allianz Arena in Germany and was defeated by 4-2.
Portugal now has 3 points the same as Germany who needed to win this game to keep their hopes of reaching the next stage.
Portugal had many difficulties during the game, some passivity, and luck. As expected, the Germans entered with all their strength. They needed to win, even so, the first goal was Portuguese, Cristiano Ronaldo, scored the first.
Then, in two moments of unhappiness, first Rúben Dias, then Raphäel Guerreiro, at 36’ and 39’, scored their own goals that put Germany ahead.
Portugal didn’t meet again after these goals, it was even Rui Patrício to avoid more goals, not even the break calmed the team, Fernando Santos brought in Renato Sanches at the beginning of the second half but on 51 minutes, Germany scored the third goal by Havertz, without the Portuguese team making any opposition.
Gosens one of the best on the field, still scored the fourth, Diogo Jota still managed to reduce to 2-4 after a pass from Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Germans would end up just managing the result until the end.
France is now isolated at the front with four points after drawing with Hungary, Portugal and Germany are in second place with three points and finally Hungary with 1 point.
