Study reveals that the pandemic had a devastating impact on relationships
56% of respondents don't want to celebrate Valentine's Day
A Fixando study reveals that the 2020 pandemic year had a devastating impact on relationships, marriage counseling increased by 286% and 26% of couples thought about divorce.
The pandemic year of 2020 was devastating for the relationships of couples who, with the obligation to spend 24 hours together, with mandatory teleworking and with their children’s classes at home, went in search of marriage counseling, whose demand increased 286% compared to 2019, reveals a study by Fixando with 8,300 people enrolled in the platform for hiring professional services.
The analysis also shows that during the last year, 26% of respondents considered the divorce, with 38% assuming that the two confinements had a very negative impact on the relationship, and 3% even considering hiring a private detective to follow the partner.
This effect is also reflected in the celebration of Valentine’s Day, with 56% of respondents refusing to celebrate it, and only 11% planning a gift and a special program for the day in question.
Likewise, the amounts to be spent have also decreased, with an average of each respondent spending an average of € 36 on the celebrations, representing less € 21 compared to 2020, when the average amount was around € 57.
