Festival “Sabores da Raia” < Friestas - Valença
The “Sabores da Raia” Gastronomic Festival invites you to discover the richness of wines and gastronomy of this cross-border region, on the weekend of May 18th and 19th, in the parish of Friestas, in Valença.
The green, white, red and sparkling wines, the famous Anho no Forno, the Calhos, the cod dishes, the Galician and pot-style octopus, the famous tile of smoked meats and cheeses and so many traditional snacks do the honours of offering a true gastronomic festival of the Portuguese-Galaic border, Valença and Tui.
This is a unique opportunity to taste the regional gastronomy that is found here and “mixes” and provides unique dishes, with centuries of tradition.
The flavours of the riverside parishes of the River Minho, Valença and Tui, will meet at this festival, in 15 stands, that will be set up on Avenida de São Mamede, in front of the Parish Council. On both days, the taverns open at 10:00 am and the restaurant area at noon.
In addition to the gastronomic offer, the event will feature, during these two days, a broad entertainment program with the performance of Grupo de Bombos and Zés Pereiras Santiago de Boivão, Charanga “Os Imperiais Taboexa”, singer Zé Barbosa, Grupo Costa Rica, Dj Pedro Pagodes, Charanga “A Tu Ritmo”, Grupo 6tás9 and Grupo Jazz Band 23.
As part of this festival, the 2nd “Sabores da Raia” Classics Tour will also take place, with a tour of classic machines through Friestas and neighbouring parishes, on the 18th of May. Those interested in participating can also register online here.
