Today, March 27th at 3 pm, the Parish of Santo António – Lisbon presents the fourth edition of the “Toast to Theater” initiative on the Passeio da Fama, in Praça da Alegria (Jardim Alfredo Keil).
This ceremony inaugurates the inscription of another 33 names of theatre personalities, which join the 79 that are already inscribed on the Portuguese sidewalk in Praça da Alegria, in what is now called the Portuguese “Walk of fame”, which now has more than 110 names.
This year the names honoured are Afonso Pimentel, Albano Jerónimo, Alda Gomes, Ana Brito e Cunha, Ana Nave, António Capelo, Carmen Santos, Catarina Avelar, César Mourão, Diogo Morgado, Flávio Gil, Florbela Queiroz, Heitor Lourenço, Helena Isabel, Helena Reis, Henrique Feist, Henrique Viana, Henriqueta Maya, Inês Herédia, João Lourenço, João Mota, João Reis, Joaquim Monchique, José de Castro, Lourdes Norberto, Luís Esparteiro, Luís Lourenço, Márcia Breia, Natalina José, Rita Salema, Rui Mendes, Sofia Grillo and Virgílio Castelo.
Vasco Morgado, president of the Parish of Santo António and author of this initiative that began in 2019, states that “it is always a great pleasure and pride every year to grow the «Walk of Fame» with more names of people linked to the Theater Portuguese as a way of celebrating, thanking and immortalizing the names of those who, on a stage, make us dream.” He also adds that this “is a gift from Lisbon and for Lisbon” remembering that “we can never forget the richness of theatre, especially because a rich country is also one that has its coffer full of culture.”
A ceremony always well attended by theatre artists, their families and fans, the Parish of Santo António – Lisbon, once again invites all theatre lovers to participate in this unique event, toasting this ancient art.
