On the 20th of May, Helder Bruno was distinguished at the International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA), which took place in the North American city of Providence.
The musician was nominated for two categories: Instrumental Performance, with the theme Door 17, and World Music Performance, with the theme Island. It was with this last nomination that the musician was distinguished.
For Helder Bruno, “given the global importance of the IPMA, the nomination (in itself) was an award. The music I make is not easily considered in this type of event. The choice of the theme Island also surprised me, as I am aware that a deeper and more technically careful hearing of the whole theme is necessary… its musical characteristics require it. However, what interests me is the end result and not the complexity of the process or the composition techniques that I use. this, having won the World Music Performance category with this song, for me one of the most interesting songs on the album, surprised me even more! my music reaches more people.”
