Continuing an unstoppable year, Jessie Ware has just released her latest single, “Freak Me Now”, a collaboration with pop/electronica singer Róisín Murphy. The song is taken from the critically acclaimed album “That! Feels Good!”, which went straight to #3 in the UK charts.
The fan-favorite song brings back the electrifying energy of Jessie’s album. Produced by Stuart Price, “Freak Me Now” draws familiar influences from ’80s electronic music and the modern sensibilities that make Jessie’s music so memorable. This, together with the spectacular voice and ironic lyrics of Jessie and Róisín make “Freak Me Now” the summer soundtrack.
Jessie said of the single: “It’s a great honor to have disco queen Róisín Murphy on ‘Freak Me Now’. I sent her a message hoping that she would be interested in participating in the song and, before I knew it, she was already in the studio. I’ve admired her work for so many years and I have a lot of respect for her. Having her on one of the funniest songs on ‘That! Feels Good!’ is amazing. I can’t wait for us to sing it together in the future! I know my fans are going to go crazy over this, as am I. I still can’t believe we’re on a song together and we made a crazy video together. She’s graceful, generous, pioneering, she’s Róisín Murphy and she’s on the theme ‘Freak Me Now!’”
Róisín said of the collaboration: “Jessie is just brilliant, a super talented songwriter and an amazing singer. She’s really beautiful, but she’s also really funny and never takes herself too seriously. We had been talking about working together for some time. When she sent me ‘Freak Me Now’, I loved it right away and felt it was the perfect song for me to be featured on. We had a lot of fun dressing up on the day of the video, it was fashion chaos!! Like a high-class sale, backstage. We laughed at our ridiculousness and were very silly all day! I just love her and loved working with her.”
There’s an incredible sense of freedom on Jessie Ware’s new album, “That! Feels Good!” The album was flooded with excellent press reviews led by The Guardian, who praised the “bulletproof melodies and killer choruses” in their 5* review. There were more positive reviews, with 4* from Clash Magazine, Dork, D.I.Y Magazine, Financial Times, and NME, with the latter describing the album as the best album of Jessie’s career. The album was also awarded Pitchfork’s Best New Music badge, with more coverage from Classic Pop, Clash, Gigwise, The Times, The Telegraph, The Line Of Best Fit, Independent, Evening Standard, The Skinny, Music OMH, Our Culture, and Rolling Stone UK.
On August 16, Jessie Ware will perform “That! Feels Good!” at the Vodafone Paredes de Coura festival.
