[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n a night of celebration, Joana Amendoeira takes the stage of Lounge D accompanied by Pedro Amendoeira on Portuguese guitar and Ivan Cardoso on viola de fado. Joana Amendoeira is one of the most relevant voices of the so-called “new generation of Fado”.
Faithful to its more traditional foundations, Fado in the voice of Joana Amendoeira gains a new life and attitude. The appeal for Fado came as a child and, at just 13 years old, won the Grand Night of Fado in Porto.
Today, more than 20 years of experience in Fado, nine albums recorded and after having stepped on some of the most prestigious stages around the world, Joana Amendoeira remains faithful to traditional sounds, adding an attitude and energy that make her a odd fado singer.
Its route has nine albums, several awards and distinctions, show cases and concerts in international music fairs and tours in different countries.
It is expected that the tenth disc of the career “Na volta da tide”, with lyrics by the poet Tiago Torres da Silva and songs by the composer Fred Martins will be released soon. Joana Amendoeira is proud to defend the most traditional essence of Fado, without deviating from its own artistic expression that makes it a reference name in the national song.
Thus, Casino Estoril is associated with the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of the greatest figure in national music of the 20th century, which sold out numerous times at the Salão Preto e Prata. It is recalled that Amália Rodrigues signed memorable performances, among which, for example, several New Year’s Eve nights stood out and starred in unique moments, sharing the stage with Júlio Iglésias or Tony Bennett.
