Mais de um milhar de atletas em competição nos nacionais de atletismo em Guimarães

Sporting CP in females and SL Benfica in males revalidated the titles of national champions, in the competitions that took place this weekend.

More than a thousand athletes competing in the final stages of the National Club Athletics Championships, which took place this weekend, at Pista Gémeos Castro.

Sporting Clube de Portugal, in women’s, with 156 points, and Sport Lisboa e Benfica, in men’s, with 163 points, revalidated the titles of national champions, in Guimarães, stamping, respectively, their 51st and 33rd. titles. On the female side, SLB ranked second, with 99 points, and the Jardim da Serra Association (AJS) in third place, with 95 points. On the men’s side, SCP, with 144 points, was ranked second and, in third position, Sporting Clube de Braga (SCB) was classified, with 87 points.

In a co-organization of the Portuguese Athletics Federation (FPA), the Braga Athletics Association and the Municipality of Guimarães, the balance “is positive from a sporting and organizational point of view”, according to the president of the FPA. This was the last race before the Tokyo Olympic Games took place and Jorge Vieira believes that the national team’s athletes are on the right path. “I hope that those who presented themselves here in great shape will keep it and that those who are not at this level will be able to get there“, he said on the FPA website, taking the opportunity to “thank all those who, in a resilient way, continued to work in this context particularly difficult, so that it would be possible to provide competitive moments in athletics”.
