Melanie Santos was 22nd classified in the female test of triathlon of the Olympic Games 2020. It was the Portuguese debut of 26 years in Olympics.
The race was conquered by Flora Duffy, Bermuda, which took 1,55, 36 hours traversing the 1500 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 20 kilometers of running, so guaranteed the first Olympic gold for this small insular nation. Melanie Santos was 6.30 minutes from the winner.
The British Georgia Taylor-Brown (1.14 minutes from Duffy) and the North American Katie Zayers (1,27) completed the Olympic podium.
