- Tech extends Microsoft Defender for Cloud capabilities
- Launch of CloudKnox Permiss Management for Protection in Multicloud Environments
- Microsoft Sentinel with new ways to access and analyze security data
In changing times, cloud, mobile and edge platforms have driven unprecedented adaptation and resilience in the business world. As security is both the challenge and opportunity of today, Microsoft is announcing new multi-cloud capabilities that are designed to protect the foundations of hybrid working and digital transformation.
According to the Flexera 2021 State of the Cloud Report, 78% of respondents are using a hybrid cloud model, meaning they rely on apps and infrastructure from multiple vendors. Another recent Microsoft survey shows that 83% of business leaders see managing multi-cloud complexity as their biggest challenge in 2022.
For organizations to fully embrace multi-cloud strategies, it is critical that their security solutions reduce complexity. That’s why Microsoft took another step in protecting multiple cloud systems, extending the native capabilities of Microsoft Defender for Cloud to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), becoming the only cloud provider with native multi-cloud protection for all three. leading industry platforms.
Enforce Zero Trust with CloudKnox Identity Security
Security and compliance fundamentals are essential for organizations, and with multi-cloud identity, the number of platforms, devices, users, services and locations multiplies exponentially. In this sense, CloudKnox Security aims to accelerate the ability to manage permissions in your multi-cloud environments and strengthen your Zero Trust security positions.
To ensure the protection of these identities and permissions, Microsoft announces CloudKnox Permiss Management that provides complete visibility into all identities, users and workloads in the cloud, with automated features that enforce minimal privileged access and use continuous machine monitoring to detect suspicious activities.
Reinvent the economics of SIEM data
Microsoft also announced that it is working to reinvent the data security information and event management (SIEM) economy and strengthen the Microsoft Sentinel service with new ways to access and analyze security data.
One of the updates is the introduction of basic logs, which allows Microsoft Sentinel to analyze a high volume of data and find the severity level, low visibility threats and a new data storage capacity to increase retention and term extension. from the current policy from two to seven years to support global data compliance needs.
In addition, Microsoft is also adding a new search experience to empower security analysts to quickly search massive volumes of security data from all logs, analyzes and files to detect threats.
More visibility and control through Identity, Compliance – and now Payments
It’s critical to offer comprehensive solutions that organize identity, security, compliance and device management as a whole while extending protection across data, devices, identities, platforms and clouds. As part of this work, Microsoft announces some updates to its portfolio:
- Protection of workload identities with Azure Active Directory (AAD). Safeguard workload identities as customers move more workloads to the cloud and develop more cloud-native applications. Identity protection can now be applied to workload identities as well.
- Compliance and Policy Enforcement for Android and macOS Devices: Microsoft Endpoint Manager has three new features and IT teams can now set a compliance policy with custom devices, enforce conditional release requirements through Azure Active Directory, and require biometrics strong to explicitly verify the identity of a device. - The secure payment process with Azure. The new Azure Payment HSM service, in public preview, will securely process payments in the cloud, which guarantees the highest levels of protection for cryptographic keys and customer PINs for secure payment transactions.
