Municipality of Ponte da Barca hosts Ecos do Lima Festival

• From July 11th to 14th, the Lima Youth Association brings music, literature, cinema and visual arts
• Municipality of Ponte da Barca supports the initiative with €15,000

From the 11th to the 14th of July, the Municipality of Ponte da Barca hosts the Ecos do Lima Festival, organized by the Lima Youth Association. With lots of music, literature, cinema and visual arts, this initiative unites the landscape and the community in four days of great entertainment and critical thinking.

And because boosting the region and doing more and better for the population of this Minho town is a priority, the Municipality of Ponte da Barca provides a stage and logistical support for the initiative, as well as support of €15,000 for the organization.

The festivities begin on Thursday, July 11th, at 10pm, with Foliada Danced by the Gaiteiros de Bravães, in Largo do Urca.

On July 12th, at 10 am, the morning is livened up with a Float March, at the youth workshop, at Praia Fluvial. At the choupal, the night begins with a performance by Just Fish, at 7pm, followed by a convivial dinner, at 8pm, and concerts by Za!, at 10pm and Chalk, at 11:30pm. At Grémio, there will be a night out with Chris Imler at 1am and Mother Jupiter & Wurm DJ Set at 2:30am.

On Saturday, July 13th, enjoy the sun and fresh morning air in a Meditation Circle, at 10am, at Praia Fluvial. The afternoon begins at 5:30 pm, at Bar do Rio, with Chibata, followed by a convivial dinner in the Choupal area at 8 pm; Machine, at 9:30 pm; Smudged, at 10:30 pm; and Dame Area, at 11:30 p.m. At Grémio, the entertainment is provided by Maquina DJ Set, at 1am, and Oxcia Sundor at 2:30am.

On Sunday, at Bar do Rio, the DJ Set starts at 4pm, to relax and liven up the sunny afternoon.

In addition to the daily entertainment, there are also installations: Phantom, by Mariana Pimenta, Sara Alves and Ana Arantes, with works by Martin Bruce, in Choupal; Altar, by Gustavo Cunha and Jaime Del Solar, at Grémio; and Floating Creatures, by Josephine Gerhardt, Maria Lopez and Francisca Figueiredo, at Bar do Rio. In the choupal and Praia Fluvial, you can also see the archive exhibition of the Ecos do Lima Festival 2015-2024 and the workshop under construction Jangada, respectively.

Augusto Marinho, Mayor of Ponte da Barca, states that ‘It is an enormous pride for the Municipality of Ponte da Barca to be able to support and encourage this type of initiatives, which give life to our village and bring excitement and youth to it’. He further adds that ‘This event allows us, on the one hand, to support young people from Barca and, on the other, to make the region and our territory known to young visitors, encouraging and culturally enriching the people of Ponte da Barca’.
