Nélson Freitas and Nick Pinheiro create NGOs to support families in Cabo Verde

Cabo Verdean artist Nelson Freitas and businessman Nick Pinheiro created a non-governmental organization “Onecaboverde” to raise funds and support the neediest families in Cabo Verde affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he “objective is to make donations for our people who are going hungry. I know that people from other parts of the world are also passing by, but let’s start with Cabo Verde, where I have more contacts to make sure that the food reaches the right points,” said the artist on a ‘live’ on his Facebook.

The idea, according to Nelson Freitas, is to raise an amount of 30 thousand euros (3.3 million escudos) to later acquire food and distribute the families most affected by the COVID-19 in the country.

The Cabo Verdean artist took the opportunity to appeal to people to stay at home and to always wash their hands as a way to prevent infection by COVID-19. The businessman Nick Pinheiro asked people to take a moment to donate and give what they can through www.onecaboverde.com, because, in his opinion, “a simple five euros will go a long way”.
