Pedro Moutinho presented Água in Lisbon

Água is Fadista’s new EP, and yesterday he presented his new work at Palácio Baldaya, in Benfica, to a house full of Fado lovers and had João Correia and Frankie Chavez as guests at a fantastic concert.

Pedro Moutinho, one of the best fado singers of his generation, has the national song in his blood, the brother of two great fado singers Camané and Hélder Moutinho, presented his new EP, Água, in Benfica, after last year having released Casa, where he worked Traditional Fado, in this EP the fado singer masterfully explores compositions from other musical universes.

In Água he featured compositions by authors such as Teresinha Landeiro, Francisca Cortesão, João Correia, Mário Laginha, Carminho, Amélia Muge and João Monge, with production being in charge of João Correia and Frankie Chavez, who also participate in the EP, on guitars, lap steel, keyboards and drums. The song “Carolina” also featured the double bass of António Quintino and the piano of Filipe Raposo.

Moutinho began singing fado at age 16 and quickly became one of his generation’s most promising fado singers. In 2002, he released his first album, Biografia do Fado, which earned him the Amália Rodrigues Foundation Revelation Award

Since then, Moutinho has released, among others, Novo Homem na Cidade (2004), Casa de Fados (2009), Os Fados e as Canções do Alvim (2011), Lisboa Mora Aqui – O Melhor de Pedro Moutinho (2010), O Amor Não Pode Esperar (2013), O Fado Em Nós (2016), and Fado Ao Contrario (2019).

Pedro is a fado singer with a powerful and expressive voice, his interpretation of fado is marked by a deep sensitivity and a great capacity for improvisation, and he manages to convey a wide variety of emotions.

Moutinho is a master in the interpretation of traditional fados. Still, he also stands out in the interpretation of new fados and can bring any lyric to life, even the simplest ones. He is an innovative and talented fado singer, who is helping to bring fado to new audiences, as he demonstrated at this concert in Benfica.

On the stage at Palácio Baldaya, Pedro Moutinho was joined by Pedro Soares on viola, Frederico Gato on acoustic bass, Sebastião Pereira on Portuguese guitar and also Frankie Chavez on guitar and João Correia on drums.
