Portuguese sprinters went through the 60-meter semi-finals

Carlos Nascimento, Ancuiam Lopes and Lorene Bazolo, the three Portuguese sprinters who competed in the 60-meter indoor track and field events held in Glasgow, were all eliminated in the semi-finals.

[dropcap type=”background”]T[/dropcap]he best was Carlos Nascimento, who finished 13th, while Ancuiam was 20th, and in the women’s section Lorene Bazolo finishes his performance in 14th place.

Carlos Nascimento ran in the first semi-final and was fourth, with 6.71 seconds, two seconds from his best record of the season. They passed directly the first two to the final, reason why had to wait for the other two races to know its destiny.

Soon in the second race, it was certain that there would be no Portuguese in the final: Nascimento fell off the list, while Ancuiam was the only seventh place, with 6.79, five hundredths worse than he had done in the morning qualifying.

With the third semifinal, already without Portuguese, the positions of the Portuguese athletes were defined, who in the morning had both obtained direct qualification for the best 24, being third.

As for Lorene Bazolo, she was close to her best of the year, is the 13th fastest in the three semifinals with 7.35 seconds.

He finishes in the third race, in the fifth position, with a mark that did not give him to be respected for the final.

In the morning, in the qualifying series, she had a direct qualification, to be third in the race, with 7.33, which then made her the 14th fastest of the athletes who passed in the final.

Bazolo, 36, is the second fastest Portuguese ever in the 60 meters, only surpassed by the national record holder, Lucrecia Jardim.
