San Diego transformed into Middle-earth today as Prime Video’s epic series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premiered its highly anticipated second season. Showrunners J.D. In the second season of The Rings of Power, Sauron returns. Cast out by Galadriel, with no army or allies, the rising Dark Lord now relies only on his own wits to rebuild his power and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to subject all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister design. Building on the epic journey and ambition of the first season, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink. Elves and dwarves, Orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… will increasingly struggle to hold on to what matters most of all… each other.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who are joined as executive producers by Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill and Jennifer Hutchison, co-executive producer and director Charlotte Brändström, producers Kate Hazell and Helen Shang, and co-producers Clare Buxton, Andrew Lee, Glenise Mullins and Matthew Penry-Davey. About The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to the screen for the first time the famous legends of the Second Age of Middle-earth history. Set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, this epic drama will take viewers to an Age where great powers were forged, Kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hopes were woven from the finest threads, and one of the greatest villains ever to emerge from Tolkien’s pen threatens to cover the World in Darkness. Opening in a time of relative peace, the series follows a cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared resurgence of evil in Middle-earth. From the deepest, darkest valleys of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of Lindon, to the breathtaking landscapes of the Kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these Kingdoms and characters will leave a legacy that will endure long after they are gone.
