Almost sixty teams will compete this Saturday and Sunday in the Rally D. Carlos I, a historical regularity event that passes through, among others, the emblematic stretches of Lousã, Góis, and Arganil.
After the success of the first two editions (see video below), ACP Classics innovates again in the route of the Rally D. Carlos I, which will pass through some of the municipalities in the Centro region with the greatest tradition in rallies. The roads of Lousã, Castanheira de Pera, Góis, and Arganil will host a fleet of 59 teams, driving cars built from the 1950s, on a route approximately 300 kilometres long.
Sportingly, the challenge consists of 15 Classification Sectors (Absolute Regularity, Sector Regularity, and Figure Regularity), divided into two stages. Competitors will gather next Saturday morning in the town of Lousã, with the departure of the first competitor scheduled for 2:00 PM. The beautiful setting of the Aguieira Dam marks the end of the first stage, from 5:30 PM on Saturday, with competitors staying overnight at the Montebelo Aguieira Hotel.
On Sunday morning, the final stage will take place, departing from the Aguieira Dam at 10:00 AM, and arriving in Arganil from 1:30 PM. In addition to the competitive aspect, the Rally D. Carlos I is also an opportunity to discover the national territory, on some of the most scenic roads in the region and with machines that made history in Portugal and beyond.
The oldest car in the event is a 1958 Jaguar XK 150, leading a diverse fleet, which also includes future classics like the most recent car in the event, a 2000 Porsche 911. Historical models from MG, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Mini, Fiat, BMW, Austin, Triumph, Volkswagen, Peugeot, and Volvo, among others, will also be on the road.
The Rally D. Carlos I is the final event of the ACP Classics Cup and also marks the end of the season of events organized by ACP Classics.
